East High DECA is known for its emphasis on developing leadership, marketing knowledge and presentation skills necessary in preparation for competition and real-world opportunities. Each year the chapter attends the Marketing & Entrepreneurship Conference, State Career Development Conference, and the International Career Development Conference. The goal of the chapter is excellence and development in all competitions. The chapter has earned top competive awards at both the state and international level on a consistent basis.
East High DECA runs the T-Bird Nest which creates designs, sales opportunities, and promotions of East High merchandise for the school and community. East DECA prides itself in completing meaniful and helpful Community Service and Public Relations projects that are essential to the awareness of issues that may impact the community.
Chapter Advisor Manuel Flores manages the multiple activities of East High DECA. Manuel Flores is a U.W. Graduate with a degree in Distributive Education. He has been a DECA advisor for 34 years and has maintained an active DECA membership average of forty-five members each year. Mr. Flores is a past recipient of the HOPE teacher of the year award.
